Rosanna Ascone
French Teacher
My name is Rosanna Ascone, I was raised in French speaking Belgium (Wallonia). I used to spend my summers, away from rainy Belgium, in Italy where I always enjoyed the food, the sun and the sea. When I met my husband, I moved near Aix-en-Provence, South of France.
As far as I remember, I’ve always been passionate about culture and languages. I grew up speaking French and Italian with my grandparents. I learned English and Dutch as second and third languages during my school years. When starting my professional life, I also learned Sign language for several years.
While the first part of my career was one of an Executive Assistant, I retrained myself to become a French Teacher in 2015. I hold a M.A. in Communication and the DAEFLE (Diplôme d'Aptitude à l'Enseignement du Français Langue Étrangère) a French government certification for the teaching of French as a Foreign Language.
I moved to Houston in 2016 and was a French Teacher at the French Alliance of Houston since 2017. I taught for 4 years then took a career break to raise my Texan little son. I’m now back to my passion. I'm teaching to adults and children, from complete beginner to advanced learner, in person and online, one-on-one or in groups.
My teaching style is based on empathy and my classes are relaxed. I always ensure my students are heard and receive the attention they need to enjoy the class and progress. I love to see them improve. Sharing knowledge and personal stories are welcomed in the class, in addition to grammar, etymology, play on words which I'm fond of while teaching.
Fun fact about me, when going out, I love to try the weirdest item on the menu. It does not always taste good but at least it creates memories! My interests are around ads, design, learning new thing. My hobbies are sewing, embroidering and watching series.
