TCF (Test de connaissance du Français)
The TCF (Test de connaissance du Français) is the French Ministry of Education’s French test, to assess your level of French in a simple, reliable and efficient manner.
This exam fulfils French language entry requirements and can be used to demonstrate language ability for job applications, university enrolments or personal use. It is also used by Canada and Québec for immigration procedures.

The test is like a snapshot of a person’s linguistic abilities at a given point in their life

Use a scale of 6 levels that range from A1 level ( beginner ) to C2 ( complete control )

It is valid for two years

For anyone 16 years of age or over, regardless of their nationality or native language
TCF Options
There are 4 types of TCF Tests:

TCF (Tout Public) - You wish to assess your French language skills for personal, academic or professional reasons.

TCF IRN (Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité) - You need to prove your level of French as part of your application for French Citizenship.

TCF Canada - You wish to settle long-term in Canada and you need to have your level of French assessed for your immigration application.

TCF Quebec - You wish to settle long-term in Quebec and you need to have your level of French assessed for your immigration application.
TCF is made up of four compulsory tests assessing general French language skills:

Listening comprehension: computer-based collective test

Reading comprehension: computer-based collective test

Written expression: computer-based collective test

Oral expression: individual face-to-face test with an examiner

The day of the Test, please be available between 8am and 6pm to take this test.
Place : L’Alliance Française of Houston, 427 Lovett Blvd, Tx 77006 Houston
Please allow 5-6 weeks from the test date to receive your certificate. The certificate of results is valid for two years. A candidate may take the test as many times as he/she wants, however, a one-month waiting period is required between two successive tests.

Fees for the full test with all 4 sections :
Alliance Française of Houston Members : $350
Non-Members : $385

Payment for a TCF session here.
Once your form and ID are received and you have made your payment, you will receive a confirmation email with your official notification. The precise exam time will be given few days before the test.
