Sacred Stones of Brittany
March 22 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Brittany has Europe’s largest concentration of prehistoric monuments: menhirs (giant standing stones), dolmens (like huge stone tables), cairns (stone mounds over burial chambers), and alignments of megaliths that stretch in columns for miles. Experts generally agree that these mysterious monuments, built between 5000 and 2000 BCE, had a religious function. This lecture will give you a look at Brittany’s astonishing array of pre-Christian and Christian stone monuments in their historical context.
Long-time Alliance members, scholar Lynda Kelly and her husband, architect and photographer Frank Kelly are popular speakers at the Alliance and return regularly to share their travels and research.
