Wonders of the Wild Seas

This year, the importance of the ocean is at the forefront of scientific discussions, especially with the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2025 in Nice. This conference will bring together global leaders to discuss the critical issues surrounding our oceans and their conservation.

Join us for a captivating evening of « Wonders of the Wild Seas ». featuring the screening of the documentary Rorqual, produced by WWT France, following a discussion with Dr. Scott Solomon, a leading scientist in the field.

 

This stunning documentary, directed by Hugo Debbe, takes viewers on an incredible journey into the world of the majestic humpback whale. The documentary is narrated by the renowned actor Gérard Darmon, whose voice brings a unique depth to the storytelling.

Following the screening, Dr. Scott Solomon will discuss how science helps us to appreciate the natural wonders of the world based on his travels to all seven continents and across (and beneath) the seas between them.

 

Dr. Scott Solomon is a biologist, professor, and science communicator. He got his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and now, he teaches ecology, evolutionary biology, and scientific communication as an Teaching Professor at the department of BioSciences at Rice University. He is also a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History and the host of the podcast "Wild World with Scott Solomon.

 

This event is designed to engage and inspire audiences of teenagers and adults (12 yo and up).
